2010 AFFI FILIPINO FRANCHISE SHOW: Set-up Your Own “Siomai Haus” or “Mrs. Siomai” and Invest Less/Earn More!!!
To get a branded Siomai Franchise (Siomai House or Master Siomai, The Number 1 and 2 in the country now) will mean the following:
1. Franchise Package of P250,000 (excluding mall or store improvements)
2. Your Food Margin on the Siomai is a low 20% (which means YOU HAVE TO SELL MANY SIOMAIS TO EARN)
3. You have to follow the Franchisor’s instructions to the letter. THE FRANCHISOR IS YOUR BOSS AND BUSINESS PARTNER.
What if you do not want have a boss, want to earn bigger margins and do not want to spend (or do not have) P250 thousand to spend?
ENTER JCM FOODLINK. They will sell you the siomai and siopao. You put-up your own brand and sell.
Branded siomai franchises will sell you the siomai at 20% less than your selling price of P25/order of 4-pc siomai or P20. JCM will sell you their siomai at P2/pc or P8/order and you sell at P25 for a MARGIN OF 68% (vs 20% of the branded siomais).
Of course, Siomai House and Master Siomai have brand-recalls. You will need to promote your products LOUDLY but still, a 300% difference in margins is something serious.
Given the high rent charged by malls and most prime locations, a siomai foodcart should sell at least P15 to 25,000 a day at 25% mark-up. In fact, the Siomai House in Ayala MRT reportedly sells about P60 – 70,000 a day. Think about it??!!!!!

Susan, if you stick with the named Brands like siomai house or master siomai, expect to pay P250,000 just for the franchise alone. Not yet included is mall security deposits, improvements etc.

Ms Gerlie, thank you for visiting my blog. JCM Foodlink is not a franchisor. They can supply siopao and siomai to your Own-brand siomai outlet. Last time I check, they charge P2/pc of siomai or P8 for an order of 4pcs which can be sold at P25 for a 300% product mark-up.

I can’t help but be amazed on how much sales a food cart business gets in a day.If you don’t have much capital and you want to go into food business, then a food cart maybe ideal for you and siomai is one of the best one.

HI. thank you for visiting my blog. Yes many foodcarts do a lot of business. I heard that the siomai house at the ayala mrt is doing P70,000 a day!!! Rent is probably P40 to 50,000. The foodcart is owned by the owner of the mrt, i heard. But bear in mind, if you locate your siomai cart inside the mall. be prepared to have BIG CAPITAL too as the rent and the security deposits can be huge.
